It was a big weekend in Toulouse: two parties on Friday, the opening of the Marché de Noël, a tea room visit and a pub crawl on Saturday, and finally a day of rest and studying on Sunday. Friday night began with an all-anglophone (almost) fancy dress Christmas party chez les anglais.

Mitsou and Jessica dressed as reindeer.

We got lost on the way to the party, and thus benefited from lots of interesting hoots from passing cars. That was... humiliating. The party was great, though, if a little disorienting - tons of Brits, Californians, and stereotypically English canapés; two "kegs" (think iced tea pitchers with spigots); and loud, loud music.
I checked out of the English soirée early to attend another soirée déguisée, this one at Charlotte's parents' house, a hilltop villa pulsing with youth and djembé music, swaddled in fog. We arrived a little late to tables covered in empty bottles, but things were still swinging:

A guy I don't know, Alice (retro get-up), Bertille (pixy), and Axel (faerie).

Me (present) + Louise (Superwoman).

Two WC photos by Adrien.

Saturday we checked out the Christmas Market: commercialism swathed in holiday spirit, packed with people and curious musical acts.

Faerie-ladies playing instruments whose names I forget. Yay!

That night, despite toes completely frozen through, we took a Toulouse by Night photography tour.

Saint Etienne; Baptiste and Bertille.

Last night was the great Christmas soirée at Bertille and Coco's. We nibbled, we played games, we ended up at a gay bar at 4 AM...
